Frequently Asked
Questions
PHI by Aurea Stone is available exclusively in 3 cm. Symphony by Aurea Stone is available in both 2 cm and 3 cm — some colors are offered in both thicknesses, so check the individual slab panel for confirmed options. QT Quartz Super Jumbo slabs are exclusively 3 cm. As a general guide, 3 cm is preferred for countertops, kitchen islands, and commercial applications; 2 cm is common for wall cladding, bathroom vanities, and lighter applications where weight matters.
Standard quartz surfaces typically contain 7–15% crystalline silica — a mineral linked to silicosis, an irreversible and potentially fatal lung disease. PHI and Symphony are engineered to contain 0% crystalline silica, making them significantly safer for fabricators who cut and grind the material daily, and for homeowners long-term. Beyond health, both collections feature NanoInk digital surface printing — ink injected up to 1 mm deep for true 3D visual depth — and NEOS Protection, a permanently bonded surface protectant that delivers a lifetime anti-stain warranty. Symphony also holds EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) certification, an independently verified environmental performance standard.
Both PHI and Symphony are made by Aurea Stone and share core technologies: NanoInk printing, NEOS Protection lifetime warranty, and 0% crystalline silica. The key differences are format and sustainability focus. PHI comes in a single format — 126 × 63 inches, 3 cm — and uses 4R+ Fullbody technology, meaning the color and pattern run through the entire slab thickness with no visible edge seam. PHI offers 12 colors, primarily polished. Symphony is available in both 2 cm and 3 cm, focuses on maximum sustainability (90% recycled content, EPD certified, EcoPress manufacturing with zero water waste), and offers 9 colors in polished and matt finishes. Choose PHI for full-body depth and thicker slabs; choose Symphony for sustainability credentials and thinner profiles.
Crystalline silica is a mineral found in most natural and engineered stone. When fabricators cut, grind, or polish stone, fine silica dust becomes airborne and can be inhaled. Prolonged exposure causes silicosis — an incurable, progressive lung disease — as well as increased risk of lung cancer and COPD. OSHA has strict permissible exposure limits for silica dust, and fabricators working with traditional quartz must invest heavily in dust control, respiratory protection, and monitoring. PHI, Symphony, and QT Quartz are independently certified at 0% crystalline silica, eliminating this risk entirely. This makes them safer for fabrication shops, remodeling crews, and households with children.
A super jumbo slab refers to engineered stone panels significantly larger than the industry standard of 126 × 63 inches. QT Quartz Super Jumbo slabs measure 139 × 79 inches, with select colors reaching 142 × 80 inches — among the largest engineered stone formats available anywhere. The primary advantage is fewer seams: a single slab can cover a large kitchen island or countertop run without joints, creating a cleaner, more luxurious look. Super jumbo is also ideal for floor-to-ceiling feature walls, commercial reception desks, and hospitality installations where visual continuity matters. Fabrication requires specialized handling equipment.

Engineered stone offers several practical advantages over natural marble and granite. It is non-porous — unlike marble, it does not require sealing and is highly resistant to staining from wine, oil, and acidic foods. It is more consistent in pattern and color than natural stone, making it easier to match across multiple slabs or a bookmatched installation. PHI and Symphony add a health advantage with 0% crystalline silica. Natural marble offers unmatched veining depth and is preferred in ultra-luxury projects; granite offers extreme hardness. Engineered stone sits between the two: the beauty of marble with the durability and low maintenance of manufactured surfaces.

PHI and Symphony surfaces come with a lifetime anti-stain warranty through NEOS Protection — a permanently bonded surface protectant applied during manufacturing. To activate your warranty, register your product through the brand warranty portals linked in the Warranty section below. The warranty covers staining under normal use and does not require annual renewal. QT Quartz warranty terms are available on request — contact our team at sales@urbanstonesource.net or (336) 407-9167 for details.
For everyday cleaning, use a soft cloth with mild dish soap and warm water — rinse and dry thoroughly. Avoid abrasive pads, bleach-based cleaners, and highly acidic or alkaline products such as oven cleaners or vinegar. Always use a trivet or heat pad under hot pots and pans — engineered stone is heat-resistant but not heat-proof, and thermal shock from direct contact can cause micro-fractures. For PHI and Symphony, NEOS Protection significantly reduces staining risk, but wiping spills promptly is always best practice. Refer to the brand resource pages below for the official full care guide for your specific collection.
