Stone fabrication shops in Georgia cutting granite, quartzite, or traditional engineered quartz are subject to OSHA's crystalline silica standard (29 CFR 1910.1053). The permissible exposure limit is 50 micrograms per cubic meter of air as an 8-hour time-weighted average. This is an ongoing operational and administrative cost for any shop processing high-silica materials.
